The fabulous Victorian architecture of the Harris Museum & Art Gallery, Preston, played a welcoming host to the 60×60 Athena Mix 2012 on Friday 8th March, 2013. The Grade 1 listed building is an amazing space ordinarily and boasts the largest gallery space in Lancashire but when it was filled to the rafters with 60 sound-works by 60 women artists, composers and musicians recently, it became even more so. A four-storey former headquarters building on Carlsberg UK’s brewery site in Leeds is to be transformed into a new centre for contemporary art and learning called The Tetley. Scheduled to open in autumn 2013, the centre has been funded by an innovative programme of private and public investment and will be operated and curated by Project Space Leeds (PSL). Leeds library and information service has been successful in bidding for Arts Council Grants for the arts funding of £10,000 to research the viability of a multi-functional arts space in Leeds Central Library. The Libraries Grants for the arts programme was launched in September 2012 and this is the first award to be announced in Yorkshire and the first project to have a Research and Development focus.
