The 2015 LAN Open exhibition at Oxheys Mill Studios, is proving popular with visitors who are enjoying the diverse selection of work. “Very fresh” “nice clean display” “lovely hanging” “delightful work” are just some of the comments received since it opened. Now Oxheys are excited to announce that the show will stay open for an extra week in order to be part of a new pilot Lancashire Festival taking part in Preston over the weekend of 25-27 September, instead of closing on Sep 19th as originally planned.
After the success of the last Lancashire Artists Network (LAN) exhibition, we are pleased to announce it is back again. Organised in collaboration with Oxheys Mill Studios, the exhibition promises a vibrant and diverse selection of work by local and Lancashire-based artists. All LAN members are invited to submit work for this exhibition – entry form and details can be downloaded here LAN Exhibition-T&Cs 2015
Alongside the exhibition, in the Loading Bay will be a small Art Market. which proved a popular addition to Oxheys’ Winter exhibition and will again offer a diverse selection of small 2D and 3D artworks, handmade greeting cards and other small art and craft items.
Artists in all media, 2D and 3D are welcome to submit and proposals are welcome from artists in music or performance who would like to take part. You need to be a LAN member or register to join (free) before submitting. Can’t say fairer than that!
Lets make this a real summer celebration – the last LAN Open exhibition at Oxheys featured work from over 70 artists including sculpture, painting, drawing, ceramics, glassworks, jewellery, poetry, photography, textiles and film. The private view saw a record-breaking attendance and several artists sold work.

Oxheys Mill Studios in Preston has announced plans for a program of events around their annual Winter exhibition which opens on 20th November from 6-8pm. Past winter exhibitions at Oxheys have been well attended and always popular as artists offer varying interpretations on the theme of winter in a wide and diverse range of art forms. This year, instead of an open exhibition, the work is from resident artists, several of whom have joined in the past year and not previously exhibited there. There is also work from some invited artists who have supported the venture since it was founded 3 years ago.
Join us at Oxheys Mill Studios for an Open Day this Saturday 14th June, for an opportunity to see a fabulous new installation by international artist Lubaina Himid MBE. Professor of Contemporary Art at UCLAN in Preston. This will be the only opportunity to see this installation before it gets shipped off to Guanjiu in South Korea for the Art Biennale so don’t miss this opportunity to see and explore the installation. Lubaina will be around all day to answer questions and talk about the work.
If you haven’t been to Oxheys before, the Open Day is also a chance to have a look around, talk with some resident artists and see the Project Space.
The Open Day is on from 11am to 4pm. All welcome.
Please note, if the loading bay is not open please ring the doorbell for disabled access.

Celebrating 3 years since moving in to the former ARM factory on Stanhope Street, artist-run Oxheys Mill Studios was started by three local artists as a collective, with the belief that empty industrial spaces could be made accessible for art and the aim of providing a space in Preston where local artists could experiment and exhibit work alongside the studios. To date 25 very different exhibitions have been organised and hosted along with other events and activities including music, live theatre, performance and poetry readings, creative writing, life drawing and photography workshops.
