The LAN Open art exhibition started with a very busy Private View last night at Oxheys Mill Studios in Preston. The venue was packed as visitors flooded in to see this new exhibition of work in a wonderfully industrial yet contemporary setting. Most of the artists who had submitted work were there and all seemed overjoyed with the way Oxheys had thoughtfully displayed their work and created such a thought=provoking exhibition.
Visitors came from as far as Cumbria, Cheshire, the Wirral, Blackburn, Bolton, Wigan, Accrington as well as from Preston and surrounding areas. The reactions from everyone present were very positive with some lovely comments in the Visitors Book. The work on display look fabulous and the venue, as always, lent its own unique atmosphere. Guests were warmly welcomed and treated to a selection of nibbles and drinks and spent the evening networking and getting to know other artists as well as enjoying the work on display. The Oxheys resident artists made everyone feel welcome and really put on a great show.
The standard of work was high and not everyone who submitted had work selected. The exhibition is open Fridays and Saturdays 11am-4pm and runs until 20th October. It is well worth a visit. We extend our thanks to all of the artists who submitted such a diverse selection of work as without them, there would be no exhibition.
We also want to thank Oxheys for all their hard work in organising, handling submissions, selecting, curating, installing and hosting an inspiring exhibition. For more information on this artist-run studios and gallery space visit their website at oxheysmillstudios.com
