We are seeking to launch an architecture competition across three age groups. With the winners of this competition being exhibited and a history of LRFS, we would also like to exhibit art works and photography donated to us by artists.
We hope to be able to make these images into an art book, prints or postcard book. Varied artworks and styles will be wonderful for us, and the imagination required is limitless! We would need these works to be scanned and made by 1st July. The earlier the better though! This is because we will need to send off art images for printing before the exhibition.
We will have a date agreed soon with Piccadilly Place studios so we can have this exhibition with the competition entrants, some time in August.
I started the petition to save this Grade II* Icon that has been on the At Risk register since 1998. The current owners Britannia Hotels have owned the building since 1986, had four planning permissions (1986, 1993, 2006, 2010) and have acted on none, leading to the neglect, damage and uncertain future for one of Manchester’s Greatest Heritage Assets.
We have now formed the Friends of London Road Fire Station Trust and have a committee and are gaining member interest rapidly. Piccadilly Place has offered to give us its community space to help us with our campaign.
