Oxheys Mill Studios in Preston has announced plans for a program of events around their annual Winter exhibition which opens on 20th November from 6-8pm. Past winter exhibitions at Oxheys have been well attended and always popular as artists offer varying interpretations on the theme of winter in a wide and diverse range of art forms. This year, instead of an open exhibition, the work is from resident artists, several of whom have joined in the past year and not previously exhibited there. There is also work from some invited artists who have supported the venture since it was founded 3 years ago.
Alongside the exhibition will once again be an area offering a selection of unusual, unique and affordable artist-made items including a range of greeting cards, ceramics, prints, textiles and bags providing an ideal opportunity to do some Christmas shopping, support local artists and see a fabulous exhibition at the same time.
The exhibition runs from November 21st until December 20th, open Fridays and Saturdays 12-3pm with all other times by arrangement.
Oxheys have also programmed a series of winter workshops to take place each Saturday during the exhibition run – each event has been designed to appeal to the entire family so activities are suitable for children and adults and will include art and craft activities such as print making, festive box making, life drawing, digital photography, cracker making and working with various textiles. These workshops are all artist led and designed to appeal to families with the emphasis on having fun and being creative. What better way to avoid the madness of the shops at this time of year? See oxheysmillstudios.com or follow @oxheys on Twitter or on Facebook for details and dates for each workshop.
Go and have some fun with art and crafts at Oxheys, take the children, enjoy an exhibition of local artists’ work and even do some Christmas shopping at the same time!
