The North West has a growing reputation as a cultural tourism destination

Last year’s Cultural Olympiad events and activities across the region acted as a catalyst for cultural tourism. Events like The Moment When in Cheshire, Lakes Alive in Cumbria, Blaze and Preston Guild with WE PLAY Expo in Lancashire, and Sacrilege – Jeremy Deller’s inflatable Stonehenge – appearing in both Preston and Oldham raised the profile of the places where they were happening and brought them national and international attention. Grizedale Arts take part in Frieze Art Fair

Grizedale Arts, one of the Arts Council’s national portfolio organisations, is the first publically funded arts organisation to be invited to take part in the 2012 Frieze Art Fair by the Frieze Foundation. Their project, Colosseum of the Consumed, will reflect the increasing interest in ecology, food and innovative work taking place in rural areas around the world

Liverpool Biennial programme revealed

The programme for the seventh and biggest ever Liverpool Biennial has been unveiled as the city prepares to engage in a celebration of contemporary art.

The festival, which runs from September 15 to November 25, covers a number of venues across Liverpool and contributes in the region of £27 million to the city’s economy.
