Last year’s Cultural Olympiad events and activities across the region acted as a catalyst for cultural tourism. Events like The Moment When in Cheshire, Lakes Alive in Cumbria, Blaze and Preston Guild with WE PLAY Expo in Lancashire, and Sacrilege – Jeremy Deller’s inflatable Stonehenge – appearing in both Preston and Oldham raised the profile of the places where they were happening and brought them national and international attention. The cultural offer in the North West of England has never been stronger.
The Project Space – an alternative exhibiting space within the International Art fair for Contemporary Objects is open for individual artists and collaborations to apply to have their work displayed.
D.verCity – Disability, Deaf and Outsider Arts Festival is the second event of its kind in Lancashire, offering art sessions that explore the social model through the theme of disability arts and culture, radical shows, comedy and cutting edge art. It is intended for adults and children, for disabled and non-disabled, and for anyone interested in art that is pushing the boundaries.

The final weekend has arrived and we are here to say goodbye to a historic event, saluting the world’s largest mega sporting competition. Medals have been won and lost, world records achieved and new friends made along the way. A cultural festival like London 2012 lingers in the memory because it ends. Now is the time for the North West to celebrate how well we played.
Disability Arts and Culture has grown over the last 30 years into a discernibly confident and accomplished artistic movement of expression around experiences of disability. DaDaFest was the first and is now the most comprehensive and challenging festival of Disability and Deaf Arts in the world.
