Although based in Cornwall, Kerenza Gallery is an online gallery with strong ties with the North West. Whilst I live in Cornwall, I was born and bred in Liverpool. The three founder artists that joined me in setting up Kerenza Gallery, are all living and working in the Liverpool area – Jane Reilly, Elaine Preece Stanley and S. K. Stevens.
The Light & Shade exhibition explores the juxtaposition and contrast of colour. We have many striking pieces of art that make a statement and not to be forgotten our 3D covers a range of ceramics, textiles, wood, glass, jewellery and photography. We have invited several guest artists with new pieces not regularly in the gallery.
Celebrating 3 years since moving in to the former ARM factory on Stanhope Street, artist-run Oxheys Mill Studios was started by three local artists as a collective, with the belief that empty industrial spaces could be made accessible for art and the aim of providing a space in Preston where local artists could experiment and exhibit work alongside the studios. To date 25 very different exhibitions have been organised and hosted along with other events and activities including music, live theatre, performance and poetry readings, creative writing, life drawing and photography workshops.

After the success of last years’ Open exhibition, we were keen to hold another. Oxheys Mill Studios have kindly agreed to host in their fabulous Project Space again but we have also arranged with the new Korova Arts Cafe in Preston for some additional exhibition space. This will increase exposure and provide more opportunities for sales. The Private View event will be held at Oxheys on 22nd August, with another event held at Korova on Saturday 24th August. Oxheys Mill Studios have issued a call for submissions for their 2012 ‘Winter‘ exhibition, asking artists to submit work that respond to the theme of ‘winter’, which is open to wide interpretation. It is hoped this will build on the success of last years’ Winter exhibition, which received an impressive response from artists in all media, making an interesting and imaginative show from which several works sold during the Private View!
