Manchester Central Library reopens after £50 million revamp

Manchester Central Library reopened on 22 March after a three and a half year transformation which sees  the Grade II*-listed building’s many heritage features, such as the famous Reading Room, lovingly restored alongside new digital features. The library, the second largest public library in the UK, now has much more of the building open to the public than previously including a new lending library providing an extra 2,000 square metres of library space.

Manchester-based stage company meets Prince Charles after Redhouse Arts Centre restoration

On Friday 28th February, HRH Prince Charles attended the newly restored Town Hall in the Welsh town of Merthyr Tydfil. In anticipation of the grand St David’s Day opening, Prince Charles toured the restored Town Hall and met with the architects, project managers and community members involved in the extensive restoration.

I am looking for professional British craftspeople who produce unique, contemporary products for interiors and would like to showcase them in Manchester Art Gallery Shop. Manchester Art Gallery is the vibrant art gallery at the heart of this culturally rich city. The shop is near the entrance and difficult to avoid and is attractive and busy (the gallery gets over 400,000 visitors a year). The Gallery have asked me to utilise approximately 20 square m floorspace in order to showcase MAKERS work.

Exhibition & mentoring opportunity: Beyond merely assembling

Submissions are invited from visual artists working across all mediums for Beyond merely assembling, a group exhibition to take place at Projects: Manchester, a new pop-up gallery space in central Manchester in November 2013. Works that involve an innovative and engaging approach to notions of space, form and function are encouraged. Work must have been made within the last 18 months.
