Last year saw Artlab contemporary print studios join the 20:20 project for the first time. 20:20 Print Exchange started in 2009 as a project between Hot Bed Press in Salford and Red Hot Press in Southampton. The format was so successful that it was decided to roll this out to more print workshops. In 2010 there were 120 artists from 10 print workshops involved, in 2011 there were 257 artists from 19 print studios and in 2012 there were 392 artists from 31 workshops producing 9,800 prints! New Lights Art Prize
Painters, artists and printmakers are invited to apply for a £10,000 Prize and Exhibition. This is open to young, emerging artists who were born, are living, or have trained in the North of England.
This summer will see the first Python Arts Festival held at all four Python Galleries across the North East and North West of England from the 20 July to the 3 August 2013. Part of the Artlab Contemporary Print programme, Talking Prints is a series of talks by artists exploring issues within contemporary printmaking, discussing current research, new developments in technologies and professional studio practice. Following the talk, there will be opportunity to network and view the artist’s portfolio.
A Digital printmaking workshop for adults will take place at the Printmaking studio at UCLan on 17th November 2012 (10 am- 4 pm). The workshop will be run by three experienced artists: Tracy Hill, David Henckel and Magda Stawarska-Beavan.
This unique day’s workshop is Inspired by Digital Aesthetic3 2012 and the accompanying exhibitions at PR1 Gallery and the Harris Museum.
This year’s Fellowship of ArtLab artists, Naomi Jones and Rebecca Liggett are exhibiting work produced over the last year, including etchings, collagraphs and screen prints. 5-16th November at PR1 Gallery, UCLAN, Preston. Private View is 7th Nov 5.30-8.30pm
Submissions are invited for the 2012 LAN Open Art exhibition to be held at Oxheys Mill Studios in Preston. Entry is free to all members of LAN, so if you are not yet a member, join now whilst it’s still free.
